Initial Thoughts: I had no high expectations when I started this show other than looking forward to Kim Ji Won’s project, and curiosity with their relationship with Lee Min Ki’s character. Although I admit that I felt a little complacent since I knew the writer was the same writer of one of my top recommendations, My Mister. Going in without expectations is truly the best way to go. When this scene of Mi-Jeong (Kim Ji Won) came up, I already knew I’m gonna continue looking forward to its episodes.

This scene hits home. Mi-Jeong reviews the design she made her boss commented on. The frustration and defeatedness when you get unsatisfactory feedbacks on your work shatters your ego like no other. Truly, it’s not the end of the world, but picking yourself up after the humiliation, and dealing with it all on your own breeds strength and loneliness also like no other.

Chang-hee and his relationship with their father is very familiar. Hello to all the Asians going through all the hoops convincing their father in a patriarchal setup where your father has the only say on every decision. It is especially harder with one mistake. Trust that it will be brought up, and all your next moves cannot be trusted. You tiptoe around your parents all your life.

Again, kudos to how they portrayed the reality of being poor/ordinary in this show. Humble house, no fancy clothes, and dreaming to have a life like everybody else in your age has is normal. You meet people from your own status and background.

Cinematography-wise, I can feel their exhaustion with the commute through the screen. The sticky feeling of being in a crowd and battling with summer heat is visible.

Edit: As of Episode 8, I enjoyed the first half so far. But come episode 9 and 10, I find myself clicking on the fast-forward button most of the duration. I hope the show can pick up from here, and keep the show interesting, at least for me.
