Navigating this “adulting” phase is unique to everybody, yet it is a shared experience we all go through collectively. We may find ourselves struggling and lonely, but we can take comfort from knowing that you are not the only one going through it.

With the help of wide and free information available to us today in the internet, we can find women who put themselves out there to guide us in juggling “you only live once,” “getting by,” and “the future is now.”

Being educated and taking care of oneself is now simpler than ever thanks to Youtube, which continuously serves as a platform for almost anything under the sun. Here are some of the Youtube channels, or Youtubers led by women who intends to help us realize our highest potentials without having to go through the trouble they have been through, a.k.a the big sisters we never had.

MEGHAN LIVINGSTONE, Health and Wellness — I came across her video once when I first learned about minimalism. She made me realize that healthy and simple living is very doable. It is as simple as being mindful and intentional about what you carry inside your purse as much as in your stomach! This lifestyle is suitable for the environment-savvy who are conscious with their carbon-footprint looking for natural alternatives in wellness.

DR. LIV, Skincare — This channel is about skincare and beauty. We may be busy with our lives, but beauty and appearance is undoubtedly something we do not overlook. Biologically, humans are naturally drawn to beauty and aesthetics that is why the beauty industry including cosmetics, dermatology, and plastic surgery generate billions of dollars in revenue in pursuit of good looks. Here, we have Dr. Liv who is passionate about science-backed skincare methods. She promotes skinfoods, and heavily advocates on using sunscreen for anti-aging, “because knowledge is power, and prevention is better than repair.” You can visit her channel and witness that her own skin is a testament to her advocacies.

THE FINANCIAL DIET (CHELSEA FAGAN), Personal Finance — Handling our finances correctly is an essential life skill. Managing your money is key to getting closer to your goals, and having a healthy financial future. Personal finance is a topic we usually shy away from because maybe we think that this topic is exclusive for the wealthy. If we change our mindset about it, we will not have a limiting belief about it. Being financially educated should be treated like as a basic skill like riding a bike; when we learn it early, it is easier to master. Chelsea, TFD’s creator, is straightforward. She believes that no matter where you start financially, it the first step is facing your financial status in an honest way, and start from there.

ANNA AKANA, Mental Health and Social Relationships— Humans are natural social beings. “Whenever we are unsure how to act, we look to the group to guide our behavior,” (Atomic Habits, Chapter 9.) In this case, we can look up Anna Akana in the Youtube search bar to relate to the social anxieties she discusses as we learn why and how to deal with them. She is not a therapist by any means, but she provides a virtual shoulder to the ones who needs friends but aren’t into speaking about their problems.

JAMILA MUSAYEVA, Personal Development — This channel is a believer and implementer of skills “beyond classroom.” Truly, the society is set by non verbal rules, or soft skills as she calls them in her channel, that we often take for granted. These rules create harmony in our interaction, and these actions may just be the edge that sets us apart in a crowd.

DEARLY BETHANY, Personal Style — Every person is unique, and so are their styles. In this channel, Bethany teaches style that caters specifically to your body type. It is important to wear clothes that looks good on you because it builds confidence from within, not through the outfit. I believe that having a good sense of fashion doesn’t always mean trendy. It is the curation of pieces that exhibits your personality, and embracing dressing according to your own body type.

There are tons of other channels and materials out there for us as long for as we are willing to learn. These recommendations may or may not be for you, but I hope you learn and find yourselves in other channels.
